OVER-REACTOR

Announce “MOUTH OF THE GHETTO” Tour

“A crushing and polarising set from one of the most interesting and forward thinking heavy bands in Melbourne.” Billy Geary, Life Music Media

Melbourne’s death-hop masters, Over-Reactor are hitting the road to celebrate the release of their latest single Mouth Of The Ghetto. Mouth Of The Ghetto is also the title of their forthcoming album, due in the second half of 2012. Since recently releasing their first single and video, the band have received over 4000 views on Youtube and had three songs in the top ten on the Triple J Unearthed  metal charts.

Its two members, Ezekiel Ox (ex Mammal, Full Scale) and Cory Blight (ex Dukes Of Windsor), launched Over-Reactor eighteen months ago, and have already toured nationally with Karnivool, Front End Loader, Floating Me, and COG.

About to Shoot a Music Video?

18 Mar

Music Videos can be extremely expensive. In no time you could have blown over $25,000 once you have paid for the director, equipment, film crew, venue, makeup artist, stylist etc.

If you are an independent artist operating on a low budget maybe consider (before locking it in with the guy who did the last Temper Trap or Children Collide clip) approaching some third year film students who are wanting to get a break in the music video industry. See what concepts they can come up with, and how much it would cost and check out some of their other work. They usually have access to the university’s equipment or can grab their hands on stuff – cheap.

Some of the better clips I have seen lately have been by students on very low budgets ($500 or so), expensive clips can look brilliant but they can also look like crap, and then you are thousands of dollars in the red.

Here are some tips from Music Think Tank:

7 Tips to Make Your Next Music Video

1 . Always have signed contracts no matter what

2 . Do a lot of research on those you hire

3 . Be realistic-about the money, time, skill, manpower, equipment, location, direction, leadership it will take to realize your vision

4 . Assume that things can always go wrong and have a Plan B, C, D…

5 . Go in person to scout locations

6 . Don’t spend 90% of your budget on equipment and crew

7 . Know how to let go. Be willing to simply admit something didn’t work and move on

OVER-REACTOR – LOSE YOUR DELUSION ALBUM LAUNCH TOUR

13 Mar

Melbourne Death-Hop pioneers, OVER-REACTOR (Ezekiel Ox – Mammal, Cory Blight – Dukes of Windsor), are celebrating the release of their brand new album ‘Lose Your Delusion’ with a string of shows along the East Coast of Australia throughout April and May.

The album is a culmination of the best tracks from their debut releases, ‘Lose Your Delusion I’ and ‘Lose Your Delusion Too’, as chosen by their fans through an online Poll that was posted on the band’s Facebook page. The previous two limited-edition, hand-folded covered albums, will no longer be available for sale on the band’s store from the 6th of March, making them collectors items with only 200 copies of each having been pressed.

Since forming in January 2010, OVER-REACTOR have written, recorded, mixed and mastered two full albums, had Chris Cheney pop into the studio to lay down guitar on the track ‘Something More’, and have supported COG in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. The band have amazingly achieved all of this on a DIY ethos, self managed, on virtually no budget with while also maintaining their belief that all their music should be available to their fans for FREE.

The Lose Your Delusion Tour will see the band performing in Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, New South Wales and Queensland. Stay tuned as there are more dates still to be announced.

Visit the website www.over-reactor.com for tour dates, to buy tickets, book them to play your house party, and for free music downloads.

CHECK OUT THE NEW CLIPS FOR BEST OF WORST AND POINT TO PUSH

Musicians – Check This Out! Submit Your Music Videos to MUSIC VID KID

14 Feb

Music Vid Kid showcases the world’s sexiest, grittiest and most intelligent music videos as they’re released around the world.
Why? Because film clips aren’t simply pictures to go with songs – they’ve become a short film genre in their own right.
These bite-sized pieces of pop culture are a collision of music, film, fashion and art. With cheaper cameras and online distribution, the industry has ballooned into a glossy, gigantic Juggernaut, spanning the gamut from Michael Jackson to Marilyn Manson and Miley Cyrus.

Yes! Music Vid Kid will be looking for outstanding music videos to showcase, and while it is
an international site, it will have a strong bias towards Australian content. New content will
be uploaded daily, and clips will be chosen on the merit of the video, not the genre.
Almost all music videos will be embedded to side skirt pesky copyright laws. From a
technical point of view, all a band needs is a high-quality version of their clip on YouTube
or Vimeo that can be linked. There is also the option of sending video files for Music Vid
Kid to upload, especially in the instance of an exclusive release.
