TMN Online: Australia now sixth biggest music market
28 March 2012
Australia has moved ahead of Canada to become the sixth biggest music market in the world. According to International Federation of the Phonographic Industry’s (IFPI) figures released this week, Australian sales were up 5.7% to US $475.2 million last year. Comparatively, ARIA figures released in late February reported that the Australian music industry was worth US$411.7 million (A$382.7 million) after a 0.34% drop.

Australia is the sixth biggest music market, according to the statistic. But it is a very tough place to call home if you are a professional musician.
I am well aware of that… But looking on the bright side, it is good to hear something positive about the music market here for a change don’t you think?
